The SP Compressor uses the same OTA (operational transconductance amplifier) as the vintage Ross Compressor and Dyna-Comp, which are considered by many players to be the best compressors.
The SP Compressor provides a wide variety of high-quality compression sounds, from exquisite vintage sounds to modern contemporary tones. The dry blend knob, volume knob (maximum +15dB boost), and internal dip switch allow you to control the attack, allowing you to flexibly respond to the sound you want to produce.
- Highest quality compressor using the same OTA as vintage compressors
- A wide range of sounds from vintage to modern
- Three switches to determine the character: "Hi", "Mid" and "Lo"
- Attack can be adjusted with the internal DIP switch
- In addition to being used as a compressor, it is also popular as a booster or buffer.

Xotic SP Compressor | Review and reputation
Used for guitar. I use it to align the distortion of chords and single notes with a slightly broken up amp. It's nice that you can set the compression to your liking from various angles. By setting the switch to low and the internal switch to the slowest setting and adding the original sound, you can get a very natural compression. It's also small and doesn't take up much space, which helps to make the board smaller. It can also be driven by 18v, but I prefer 9v because it feels like the compression is too strong.

As the title suggests, this is the entrance to your effects board, where you can adjust the sound.

The biggest feature of this pedal is that it doesn't just apply compression, but also adds an exquisite thickness and gloss to the sound.
So, with just this one unit, you can determine the entrance.
On the other hand, if you just want the general compression functionality and no extra flavor, there are plenty of other options.
Also, for advanced players who don't need compression and just want to add thickness and lustre to their sound, the company's EP Booster would be a good choice.
For someone like me who is intermediate to advanced and needs a compressor, and who loves the unique flavor that this effector gives off, the fact that you can get everything you need in one compact unit is extremely helpful.
The clipping switch allows you to select between three modes - LO, MID, and HI - and the blend knob allows you to adjust the intensity.

I've used a lot of compressors, but this one has a unique feel to it.
My impressions of each mode are as follows:
[HI] is a very poppy compressor mode. It's as poppy as MXR's Dyna Comp.
If you set the internal dip switch to a faster attack and release, you'll get a satisfying pop.
If you want to add a "compressed" sound, then you should definitely choose this mode.
[LO] has a very natural compression feel, and is a natural-style mode that is popular these days.
It is more of a sustainer rather than a limiter/enhancer that evens out the sound particles. It may be better suited for bass.
The internal DIP switch allows you to slow down both the attack and release, which really extends the sustain naturally.
[MID] is between HI and LO. It is as is. It has a moderate compression feeling and naturally improves sustain.
This pedal has the same effect as the EP Booster in that it deepens the sound even with the blend knob at 0, so just passing it through creates a three-dimensional sound.
Therefore, if you are aiming to achieve this type of filter effect, MID mode is the most suitable as it has the least quirks.
This is the usage experience of the three modes.
My favorite compressor is Shur's KOJI COMP, which has four knobs: compression, attack, volume, and blend, but this one has a completely different character so I'm having fun using it.
The simplicity of being able to preset the clipping switch and internal dip switch and then recall the effects with just two knobs, attack and blend, is extremely nice.
The green LED lamp stands out in the compact body, and it's also extremely noiseless, making this a great compressor.
