What do famous top musicians have in common? They all use the famous Echoplex. Originally, Echoplex is a device for obtaining delay effects, but it is well known that it was used as a preamplifier for the purpose of making the sound thicker just by passing it through, but it has been avoided due to its size and maintenance issues. Xotic's EP-Booster was created to easily obtain this warm and firm preamp sound. It uses top quality parts and is designed to be durable enough to meet the needs of professional players. It is an even smaller version of the conventional compact effector, and is compatible with the slimming equipment situation in recent years. The EQ characteristics can also be changed using the internal dip switch. The simple one-knob design is a commitment to sound that can be used immediately after connection. It can be used with an internal 9 volt battery as well as external power sources from 9 volts to 18 volts, so it has ample headroom to support any instrument. Please enjoy the magic of the past.

The EP-Booster is a discrete design using FETs and transistors without using ICs. The 20dB boost function is less susceptible to noise from the outside world due to its low impedance output, and prevents deterioration of sound quality due to cables, etc. The natural and spacious sound quality, with a natural compression feeling like that obtained when turning up the volume of an amplifier, brings out the goodness of the instrument without any harshness even at high volume. In addition, the built-in DIP switch allows you to select two types of boost frequency and high frequency mode.

Xotic EP Booster 15th|Reviews and Reputation

I wanted to be able to create sounds using a jazz chorus, so I had been interested in it for a while and decided to buy it.

It has just the right amount of compression, lustrousness, and is thick and solid without being dull... I think it makes a big difference to the person playing it. Good.
However, I have only used it in the studio a few times and have not yet been able to fully tinker with it, so I cannot say that it would be suitable for a jazz chorus...I don't think I would recommend it to others in that way.
The sound isn't bad at all, but I'm not confident in recommending it as a solution for jazz chorus.
If I were to recommend it, I would say that it has a thick, lustrous sound that is really pleasant to play.

A lot of people use it. You can use it as a buffer or as a booster, either before or after distortion. It's pretty effective, so it's nice to put it after distortion to boost it. I use it like a buffer with the knob at 1-2 and leave it on all the time, but the sound gets thicker and more powerful, so when I turn it off I feel it's not enough.
When you open the back cover, there are two DIP switches, but both are set to ON when shipped from the factory, so even when the knob is set to zero, the +2db boost is activated. If you want to reduce the effect, you can adjust it here. I have the +3db switch turned off.
It has a rugged feel, typical of American products, and it's possible that they are not shipped with consistent quality (a friend of mine said he got a bad XOTIC product and will never buy it again), but at least I've never heard of anyone who is dissatisfied with this EP Booster, so I think it's a good product (rumor has it that the EP Booster is manufactured in Taiwan).
