What do top musicians like Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, Brian May, and Eric Johnson have in common? They all used the legendary Echoplex. Originally, the Echoplex was a device for achieving a delay effect, but it was well-known that it was used as a preamplifier to make the sound "thicker" and "tighter" just by passing it through. However, it was avoided due to its size and maintenance issues.
The Xotic EP-Booster was created to make it easy to obtain this warm, solid preamp sound.
It is designed to be durable enough to meet the needs of professional players, using top quality parts. It is smaller than conventional compact effectors, and meets the needs of the slimmer equipment of recent years. The EQ characteristics can be changed using the internal DIP switch. The simple "one-knob" design is a commitment to sound that can be used immediately after plugging it in. It can be powered by the built-in 9-volt battery, as well as external power sources from 9 to 18 volts, so it has ample headroom to support any instrument. Please enjoy the "magic" of the past.

It feels like it just lifts and thickens the sound without changing the characteristics of the amp.
Connect after distortion for solo boost
Of course, it can also be used as a booster!
Connect it after a distortion pedal to boost the volume during solos.
If you have one, it's very easy to use!

Xotic EP Booster | Review and reputation
A lot of people use it. You can use it as a buffer or as a booster, either before or after distortion. It's pretty effective, so it's nice to put it after distortion to boost it. I use it like a buffer with the knob at 1-2 and leave it on all the time, but the sound gets thicker and more powerful, so when I turn it off I feel it's not enough.

When you open the back cover, there are two DIP switches, but both are set to ON when shipped from the factory, so even when the knob is set to zero, the +2db boost is activated. If you want to reduce the effect, you can adjust it here. I have the +3db switch turned off.
It has a rugged feel, typical of American products, and it's possible that they are not shipped with consistent quality (a friend of mine said he got a bad XOTIC product and will never buy it again), but at least I've never heard of anyone who is dissatisfied with this EP Booster, so I think it's a good product (rumor has it that the EP Booster is manufactured in Taiwan).
As expected, it's a best seller and is quite good. I think the best setting for the volume is below 9 o'clock. There are many manufacturers that make boosters, but if you're not sure which one to buy, I recommend buying this one first.

The sound quality improved dramatically. I now leave it on all the time. It's so refreshing to have a problem solved. I recommend it to anyone who is undecided!
