About VEMURAM | About the brand

Founded in 2008, this is a handmade effects pedal brand that Japan is proud of. With the release of the overdrive pedal "Jan Ray" used by Michael Landau, the brand quickly became known around the world. All pedals feature a luxurious brass body, original capacitors, and gold-plated metal parts of the 3PDT switch. The pedals have been highly praised for their nuances reminiscent of a direct amp and their gain response.

Over the past year and a half we've created numerous prototypes and spent a lot of time testing them with John Shanks.
Through repeated testing not only in John's studio but also on Bon Jovi's live stages, we have created a transparent overdrive pedal with a great sound that incorporates an exquisite balance of overdrive and distortion elements and can be used on stage or in the studio.
This pedal gives you all the drive sounds you need in any situation, whether you want to gently push a tube amp or boost the gain for a solo.
Additionally, you can use the trimmer on the top to adjust the overall SAT (saturation) and BASS to match the characteristics of your guitar pickups and amplifier.
- A drive pedal co-developed with John Shanks, famous as a Bon Jovi producer.
- A transparent effect that perfectly combines overdrive and distortion.
- Wide gain range and trimmer for sound shaping
- Bite feel and sound separation

VEMURAM SHANKS ODS-1 | Reviews and Reputation
I originally had an early Jan Ray product, so I compared them.

The amp is a Fender Deluxe Reverb, in clean mode.
Jan Ray's saturation is distinctive and I think a lot of people like that.
Even if you turn up the GAIN, the sound will still be saturated and distorted.
The ODS-1 is thick and not quirky. When you turn up the TONE a little, it cuts through nicely.
If you set the GAIN to 12 o'clock or higher, it starts to sound like a Marshall. That's also attractive.
For a while I used it in conjunction with the Jan Ray, but now I only use the ODS-1.
The ODS-1 has a more rock feel than the Jan Ray.
I've tried out Jan Ray about 5 times but I've never ended up owning one.

Ever since I first tried this out a month ago, it's been in the back of my mind and I've been curious about it! I guess you could say it was love at first sight haha (I personally think the way the low mids come out is really sexy 😁)
I had been interested in the VEMURAM SHANKS ODS-1 for a long time because of the influence of Nakashima from Oishikuru Melonpan, and when I actually tried it out, I was impressed by how thick and sharp it was, and how it worked with any guitar or amp.
