Supro Airwave 25W | Features and Functions

Equipped with 12 types of cabinet simulation

The biggest feature of this unit is that it can digitally reproduce the sound of a total of 12 different speaker cabinets. Six vintage Supro amp cabinets and six modern cabinets are preset, and can be instantly selected using the rotary switch and A/B bank switching button on the front panel.

For example, it is revolutionary to be able to try speaker sounds with different characters at the touch of a button, from the warm classic tone of the Vintage Oahu model to the brilliant high tones of the "Custom Delegate 1x12". The tone that was previously obtained by recording the cabinet with a microphone can now be easily switched using digital technology, allowing you to create the optimal sound for any situation, whether recording at home or performing live.

Professional sound creation using Two Notes' DynIR

The cabinet simulation function uses the high-quality IR (impulse response) technology "DynIR" from the French company Two notes. By connecting the included "Torpedo Remote" dedicated app (compatible with PC/Mac/Android/iOS) to the amplifier via USB or Bluetooth, you can edit the details of the presets or replace them with your own cabinet IR.

The 12 factory presets themselves can be freely customized, and there is also the expandability to save up to 128 different sound settings. Since you can adjust detailed parameters such as microphone type and position, and room reverberation, once you start getting into it, you have so much freedom in sound creation that it's limitless. It may sound difficult, but the basic operations are simple, which gives you the peace of mind that "if you want to do advanced things, you can do them too."

A variety of outputs for everything from practicing at home to recording

The Airwave 25W can output a line signal via a cabinet simulator from the stereo XLR terminal on the back of the amplifier, allowing you to connect it directly to a mixer or audio interface. This is a great advantage as it allows you to easily record authentic amp sounds without needing a microphone.

Also, for live performances, you can send the signal directly to the PA console via XLR to play the ideal guitar sound through the speakers in the venue. On stage, you can output the sound from the 12-inch speaker of the amp itself while sending a line to the PA, or you can listen to the sound through in-ear monitors while playing silently on stage (with the amp speakers muted).

At home, if you use the headphone jack, you can enjoy the rich sound of a vacuum tube amplifier through headphones even at night. Even when using headphones, the sound goes through the preamp, power amp, and cabinet simulation, so you won't have to worry about poor sound when using headphones. In this way, it is a truly all-purpose amplifier, with output options that can be used seamlessly from home to studio to live performance.

Comprehensive built-in effects unique to analog

While the digital features tend to get all the attention, the heart of the sound is the traditional Supro analog circuit. Equipped with two gain switching functions, boost (clean boost) and drive (overdrive), you can raise the volume during solos with the foot switch, or switch between a light crunch and a thick overdrive sound with your foot. The tube-driven spring reverb gives a deep reverberation, and the tube tremolo creates a shimmering vintage feel.

These are all analog effects built into the amp, so the sound doesn't get thin, and you can create a rich tone without using a lot of pedals, which is a nice feature. You can also use the 3-band EQ and master volume to create a saturated power tube sound at low volume even at home. For example, if you increase the gain (Vol or Drive) and turn down the Master, you can get distortion with harmonics unique to vacuum tube saturation even at low volume, so you can play with a "good sound" even when practicing late at night. I feel that Supro's attention to detail is in the fact that it is based on a classic structure, but the details have been brushed up to meet modern needs.

Supro Airwave 25W | Review and reputation

The best way to learn Spanish

Positive reviews
  • It's great for versatility, whether you use it at home, for recording, or for live performances.
Many people have praised the all-in-one performance, saying, "I was able to organize my equipment because I can use this one unit from practice to the real thing." It is especially popular for its wide range of compatibility, from headphone practice to line recording and direct connection to a PA system.
  • High sound quality for a vacuum tube amplifier
The vintage-like tone of the traditional Supro 6V6 sound has been praised for its "thick and lustrous clean sound" and "crisp crunch." Even when it goes through the digital section, the liveliness is not lost, and some say it sounds "surprisingly natural even when output from a line."
  • The cabinet simulation is excellent.
Two notes' IR cabinet simulation has been praised for having "depth, as if it were actually recorded with a microphone." All 12 presets are usable sounds, and "it's convenient to be able to quickly switch between them depending on the genre." Some advanced users even customize their own IRs, saying, "It's fun to be able to try out different cabinet sounds that you like."
  • Practical built-in effects and ease of use
The reverb and tremolo effects are popular, with some saying they're "just like vintage amps," and that the boost/drive are quite practical if adjusted properly. The control layout is intuitive, and the ease of use is also well-received, with many saying "you can figure out the basic operation without reading the manual." The construction and looks of the unit are also praised, with some saying it's "classical and makes you want to own it," and "sturdy and reliable."

Negative reputation

Negative reviews
  • expensive
Some say it's reasonable considering its features, but with a domestic retail price of around 17 to 18 yen, it's not exactly cheap, so some say it's "hard for beginners or people on a tight budget to get their hands on." There are also opinions that criticize the cost performance, as there are other high-end models and modeling amps from other companies in the same price range.
  • It has many functions and requires some practice to use
Users who are not familiar with digital functions have pointed out that "it takes time to understand all the functions" and "there are many settings that are confusing compared to simpler amplifiers." In particular, editing presets in conjunction with a PC or smartphone requires IT literacy, such as installing apps and setting up connections, which some people find difficult. However, some also add that since you can basically just switch presets, "once you get used to it, it's no problem."
  • Weight and size opinions
Although the weight is standard for a 1x12 combo, some users feel that "17kg is a bit heavy." It is quite heavy compared to small digital amplifiers, so those who carry it around frequently would be happy if it was a little lighter. Some also say that the 23cm deep case is "deeper than expected and it's difficult to find a place to put it."
  • Dissatisfaction with some functions and accessories
"It's a shame that there's no effects loop," some users have pointed out, considering how they might use their own effects. The built-in effects are extensive, but you'll need to be creative to use delays and loopers after the distortion. Some users also said that "it's a minus that the dedicated foot switch is sold separately," and some users were disappointed that they would need to make an additional investment to get the most out of it. In addition, some high-gain users said that "it doesn't produce distortion suitable for metal, so you'll still need a distortion pedal."

Supro Airwave 25W | The hybrid amp guitarists have been waiting for

Do you need forest bathing?
  • Those who want to enjoy the sound of a tube amp at home but are concerned about the volume
Do you want to play the rich sound unique to vacuum tube amplifiers at home, but are worried about the volume being too high? With the Airwave 25W, you can practice late at night using the headphone jack without worrying about your neighbors. It also has a master volume, so you can create just the right amount of distortion while keeping the volume down even when playing from a speaker. It's perfect for those who want to practice at home without stress, with real tube sound, without compromising that "home amplifiers = digital amplifiers."
  • Those who want to easily obtain recording/streaming quality guitar sounds
This model is perfect for those looking for an amplifier that can be directly connected to an audio interface for recording. The Airwave can output the ideal microphone recording sound without miking with the XLR line out. Moreover, the cabinet simulation is made by Two notes, and the sound quality is guaranteed. If you are a guitarist who wants to record at home with DTM or play live at a live broadcast, you will realize the convenience of being able to create a good sound without the hassle of microphone setting.
  • Those who want lightweight equipment for small-scale live performances or studio practice
For live bars with a capacity of several dozen people or studio rehearsals, large stack amps are overkill. The Airwave 25W has a 25W output and is easy to carry around with its exquisite size that is not too large while still providing sufficient volume. It weighs about 17kg, which is standard for a vacuum tube 1x12" combo, so it is easy to load and unload from a car or carry to a venue. When on-site, you can place the amp on the stage and play it, and send it to the PA via a line to deliver an exceptionally clear guitar sound. It is recommended for live guitarists who don't want to compromise even with a small venue.
  • Those who want both the convenience of digital and the texture of analog
This amp also suits those who are greedy and want to play with a real tube amp, even though they know the convenience of multi-effects and amp simulators. The Airwave 25W allows you to enjoy the raw sound pressure and response with a realistic tube circuit, while at the same time allowing you to create modern sounds with a digitally controlled cabinet IR. To put it in extreme terms, it is a machine that takes the best of both vacuum tube amps and digital equipment, so it is also ideal for those who are used to modeling amps. On the other hand, for those who prefer traditional tube amps, you can gradually incorporate the benefits of digital functions while still feeling natural, which should inspire new creative ideas.
  • Those who want to simplify their pedal board
It is also suitable for minimalist players who want to play with a simple set. The Airwave 25W has basic effects such as reverb and drive built in, so you can create a wide range of tones without having to line up a lot of pedals. If you have a foot switch (sold separately), you can turn the boost and reverb on and off with your feet, so you can set up with just an amp and a few pedals for an energy-saving setup. It will be a great companion for those who value mobility, such as when you want to set up quickly for a session or a spontaneous live performance.

The Supro Airwave 25Watt 1x12 is a hybrid amp that guitarists have been waiting for, combining the high quality of analog sound with the convenience of digital technology. It can be used for everything from home practice to recording and small-scale live performances, and it is one of a kind in that it allows you to enjoy the fun of a vacuum tube amp in any environment.

The Airwave 25W inherits the traditional Supro sound while providing the flexibility to meet modern needs."An all-in-one combo packed with 60 years of rock amp history".

In one word,"The ultimate all-purpose tube amp that combines vintage spirit with the latest technology."From tube amp fans to digital generation players, we encourage you to experience the sound and experience that the Airwave 25W produces.
