[The ideal combination of vintage and modern] Suhr Hombre: A must-see amplifier for Fender-style "brown face" enthusiasts [Sound demo and reviews]

"What if the Fenders of those days could be brought back to life with the precision of today?"
A modern, hand-built rendition of the early 1960s Brownface Fender Deluxe. The definitive classic tone amplifier
Suhr Men
In recent years, when we think of Suhr, we tend to imagine modern, multi-functional products, but this Hombre is the exact opposite.
It combines a simple hand-wired circuit with a 6V6 power tube and a 12-inch Celestion V-Type, and is equipped with only Volume, Tone, and a superb tremolo. Every time you turn the knob, the compression and gloss unique to vintage guitars spreads, allowing you to play with the sound you hear without relying on pedals.
This is the ideal classic combo for guitarists who love Fender amps but also want modern reliability and service support.

The exterior is a two-tone tweed and dark brown design reminiscent of vintage. The interior is hand-wired by craftsmen, with short signal paths and a layout that is resistant to noise.
The output tube is a 6V6, set to 20 W, which is easy to saturate even at home. The speaker is a modern Celestion V-Type, so the low end is tight and it is less likely to be buried in a band ensemble than the original Deluxe, which is practical.

Suhr Hombre|Features and Functions
- 2 Input Configuration
- Normal = slightly dark and thick, Bright = brilliant top end.
- Cathode bias 3-stage tremolo
- The pulsating sway is just like the old Brownface. The intensity goes deep when set above 12 o'clock.
- Master Vol. not installed = pure volume control
- "Old school" specification that controls the amount of distortion with guitar volume and picking.
- Modern Stability
- Reliable parts such as high-voltage Mallory coupling capacitors and carbon film resistors are used.
Connect it directly to the Bright input and set the Volume to 4 to get a crisp, blackface-style clean sound. At 5-6, the speaker cracks nicely, creating a crunch full of the glide of the classic Surfing With The Alien sound. Turn the Volume up to 8 or higher and it transforms into a "broken clean" sound with dense compression that follows your picking.
Turning down the Tone brings the mids forward, recreating the stickiness of the Tweed Deluxe.
The Intensity 7 / Speed 3 setting provides a deep tremolo that won't get lost on stage, and by inserting a reverb pedal in front of it, you can enjoy the full vintage Fender sound at home volume.
Suhr Hombre | Frequently Asked Questions & Solutions
| Trouble | Reply |
|---|---|
| Can I ring it at home? | Vol. 3-4 are clean to crunch. With the attenuator, you can practice late at night. |
| How does it work with pedals? | The Bright Input 2 has a low gain design, making it easy to place OD/Fuzz in the front stage. |
| I want reverb | This can be solved with a Spring Reverb pedal or a Wet/Dry rig (bouncing from Input 1 to 2). |
| Is it heavy to carry? | At 15 kg, it is lighter than the DRRI. If you use a soft case and carry-on, you can take it on public transport. |

Suhr Hombre|Reviews and reputation
The best way to learn Spanish
- "I compared it to a '64 Deluxe, and the Hombre has tighter lows and stands out better in a band."
- "The broken clean sound you get with Volume 6 is superb. It's great for creating vocal backing without the need for additional pedals."
- "Even with a deep tremolo, it doesn't eat up the volume. The 'Brownface fluctuation' is an immediate asset in recording."
Negative reputation
- "There is no master, so an attenuator is essential. Volume 3 or higher is difficult in an apartment building."
- "It's expensive, and I was torn between the Tone King Imperial MkII, which has more features and offers the same output."
Suhr Hombre|The modern perfection of the brown face style
- People who find the Fender Deluxe Reverb too clear and are looking for a Brownface tone with a thick mid-range.
- Those who want to keep pedals to a minimum and use only a guitar and cable. Those who want to control the amount of distortion with their picking.
- A player who mainly records at home or does small sessions and is looking for a 20W class vacuum tube amplifier.
- Those who value hand-wired Suhr quality compared to tweed/Brownface boutiques (Tone King, Milkman, etc.).
The Suhr Hombre is a "player-oriented" combo amp that revives the richness of the vintage Brownface Deluxe with modern reliability and size. Even for ears accustomed to Fender-style guitars, the surprisingly thick mids, smooth compression, and deep, swaying tremolo will take your expressiveness to the next level.
The lightweight 20W ease of use and the clear low end that is characteristic of handmade products are in their true value for home recording and small live performances. If you want to enjoy the essence of Brownface in a modern environment, Hombre is your top choice.
