Philip Sayce|Profil

Philip Sayce
Date of birth: 1976 year 6 month 3 day
Origin: Wales, UK
Biography
Born in Wales in 1976, he grew up in Toronto, Canada. Influenced by his parents, he started listening to Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Beck, and others, and naturally picked up the guitar. At the age of 15, he formed a band, and by the time he was 16, he was performing regularly at local clubs, and his exceptional guitar work made him a local celebrity.
His performance caught the eye of Jeff Healy, and in 1997, he went on a three-and-a-half-year world tour as a member of the Jeff Healy Band. He then moved to LA, where he met Melissa Etheridge through producer John Shanks, and joined her band. He not only toured but also participated in the production of her albums, and his name quickly spread. His performances on big stages such as the Grammy Awards and the Academy Awards were praised not only by the audience but also by the big artists who were there.
In 2009, he signed a contract with the European label Provogue and released his first solo album, "PEACE MACHINE," attracting even more attention as a guitarist leading a new generation. He continued to release albums consistently, such as "Innerevolution" in 2010, "Ruby Electric" in 2011, and "Steamroller" in 2012, and continued to work mainly in Europe, playing as a support act for ZZ TOP and DEEP PURPLE. In 2012, he also performed in Japan for the first time as a support act for THE ANSWER.
In 2014, he released "Influence" in Europe, then signed a contract with Warner Canada and reissued the album with two additional songs in April 2015, expanding his activities from Europe to the world. He has been attracting attention as "an unknown talent" especially in North America even before his official debut, and is gaining the status of "Canada's new guitar hero".

SVL Custom Guitar / '61 Reserve

Product Overview
SVL Custom Guitar is a guitar that Canadian blues rock guitarist Philip Sayce has started using.
Based on the 61 Reserve, the fingerboard radius is 10", which is a particular preference of Mr. Ito, as the usual radius is 7.25-9.5 or 9.5".
The fret size used is 6105.
The neck grain is selected to be straight grain.
The ripples on the top of the head give it a distinctive look reminiscent of a sword blade.
In addition, the flame neck, which is synonymous with SVL, creates a unique finish.
The aging finish on the body is relatively light.
His guitar appears to have been aged to a similar extent at first, but the paint has already peeled off in a short period of time, which shows the strength of his picking but, on the other hand, it can also be seen as proof that the paint is so thin.
Because the paint is thin, you can feel the improvement in sound from when it was new, which is one of the charms of this brand.
The pickups are a traditional black bobbin/cloth wire style, and have been given an extra earth treatment.
The capacitor is a Centralab .022μf 300v oil CAP, which allows for more fine tuning at about half the normal tone rather than a deep tone, and is more suitable for adjusting a slight attack rather than the full tone.
Although we cannot say for certain which pickup manufacturer will be used this time, in the past we have chosen brands such as Klein and Mark Foly. However, we are always trying to improve our products, including capacitors, and we are also trying to introduce new ones based on the needs of our on-site activities, such as accompanying The Who live shows.
In addition, this particular guitar has good overall tension and output balance between each string, giving it a clear, forward-thinking sound.
In addition, the SVL's characteristic rustic style is still alive and well, and it has a vintage-like nuance that changes depending on the amount of picking input.

[About SVL Guitars]
SVL Guitars operates on a small scale in the lush countryside of Hampshire, England, in quest of perfect tone and service.
Simon V Law, the company's president, founded SVL Guitars after working as a professional guitar repair and guitar amp technician for over 16 years. He wanted something that wasn't in the so-called custom shops and boutique guitars he had seen. These were guitars that would inspire the player and evoke their personality, rather than focusing on the parts used or the appearance.
SVL is inspired by the beauty of vintage instruments and strives to ensure that SVL guitars give players that same feel and great tone.
Each guitar is hand-built from the finest woods for a clear, sustained tone. Every guitar is also sprayed with a very thin coating of nitrocellulose, which helps the wood breathe. Both the body and neck of the guitar are finished in the same way, with a unique finishing process that helps them play great.
SVL guitar finishes are beautiful and thin, allowing the guitar to age naturally and gracefully.
It is also possible to give the hardware parts a new, unaffected shine.
However, over the last year SVL has produced several aged SVL 61 models in alder and ash, especially in the sunburst finish, that not only look incredibly similar to the guitars of 50 years ago, but also sound and feel exactly the same.
Its tone and vintage-inspired atmosphere, along with the exquisite balance created by Saimon's extensive experience, make the '61 Reserve even closer to the real thing.
PRS / Silver Sky

Product Overview
The PRS Silver Sky is equipped with PRS's original single-coil pickups, designed to inherit the sound of the vintage guitars manufactured between 1963 and 64, which are the vintage guitars that John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith love dearly, and was created from a design concept that sets it apart from the image of the past.
The result of two years of research and development, the Silver Sky has the distinct sound that John and Paul were aiming for, and it features an abundance of PRS original parts designed and developed specifically to produce the guitar's sound and playability.
The headstock shape is a PRS trademark, but it has been redesigned with a reverse headstock to suit John Mayer's playing style, and the distance from the nut to the tuners has been increased to further improve tuning stability.
The tuners are traditional vintage-style Kluson type, but the original PRS pegs feature the PRS locking system. The original steel tremolo is attached to the body with the arm in a neutral position. This setting allows the bridge to move only in pitch down directions, but by increasing the contact area between the bridge and the body, it improves the natural resonance of the body, resulting in a dynamic sound and an improved signal-to-noise ratio for the single-coil pickups.
The 635JM pickups are PRS original pickups developed exclusively for the Silver Sky, and are characterized by a wide range and a fat, crispy sound.
The Silver Sky is available with a choice of rosewood or maple fingerboard, both with a 7.25" fingerboard radius. The rosewood fingerboard neck has a slightly more rounded shoulder, making it more comfortable for the palm of the hand. The shape of the neck for both fingerboards was derived from careful research of vintage guitars and numerous tests on stage by John Mayer himself.
The completely original design molded jack plate, which allows for smooth insertion and removal of the plug, is an idea that could only be dreamed up because the unit is designed for use in live performances.
Created by John Mayer and Paul Reed Smith, we hope that the Silver Sky will become a new option for guitarists around the world, regardless of musical genre, including rock, blues, jazz, and funk.

Fender / 1968 Super Reverb Silverface

Product Overview
The early 1968 models had the silverface nameplate but were fitted with blackface circuitry.
This amp is not only superbly clean, but also has a great natural drive when you turn up the volume.
If you use the TS as a booster with the setting just before distortion occurs, you'll get the perfect Ray Vaughan sound.
The tremolo has been cut, but the reverb is not a dull one, but a crisp, sharp vintage Fender reverb sound. (From fatguitar)

Product Overview
The Centaur pedal is loved by famous musicians as a literally ``professional'' distortion pedal.
This is an example with a silver case, serial number S400, a 99 pot, and a "Short Tail" print of a horse and a man.
With its exquisite sense of cohesion and compatibility with amp distortion, and the highly persuasive sound produced by the buffer circuit that operates even when the circuit is off, it has inspired many other pedals, and the original is becoming rarer every year.

KR / MegaVibe

Tycobrahe / Octavia

Product Overview
OCTAVIA is a highly original effects unit created by Roger Mayer in the 1960s after an idea was proposed by Jimi Hendrix.
This effect was designed in early 1967, and Hendrix immediately used it on the album "Are You Experienced?" after hearing it. The indescribable tone, like a ring modulation (RINGING = "ringing/bell sound" + MODULATION = "modulation"), must have felt quite alien in the 1960s, when the word "effector" had not yet been invented. Hendrix also used this pedal on tracks such as "One Rainy Wish," "Little Miss Lover," "Little Wing," and "Machine Gun." You can especially hear the sound in many places on the live album "Band of Gypsys"! (From Digimart)
