Nuno Bettencourt's equipment [Amplifiers, guitars, effects]

Portuguese guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and record producer Nuno Duarte Gil Mendes Bettencourt has influenced many guitarists since the '90s and is cited as one of the pioneers of the funk metal style.

He first became known as the lead guitarist for the Boston rock band Extreme. He has recorded solo albums as well as founded bands such as Mourning Widows, Population 1, DramaGods and The Satellite Party. He also reunited with Extreme in 2007 to write and tour new music.

Nuno's discography with Extreme includes the projects Extreme (1989), Pornograffitti (1990), III Sides To Every Story (1992) and Waiting For The Punchline (1995).

In 2008, Extreme reformed for a world tour and a new album, Saudades de Rock.

Nuno's solo albums include Schizophonic (1997), Mourning Widows (1998) and Furnished Souls For Rent (2000).

In 2002 he formed Population 1, which released Population 2004 and the EP Sessions From Room 1 in 4. In 2006 he released the album Love with his new band DramaGods.

Among other work, Nuno was featured on the soundtrack of the film Smart People in 2008. He was also credited on the soundtrack cover. Also in the same year, he was featured on the song and video for "Best Night Ever", a song sung by the character Marshall Eriksen in the TV series The Anchorwoman. The video is a parody of Extreme's "More Than Words" and features the entire main cast of The Anchorwoman.

In 1990, Nuno played rhythm guitar on Janet Jackson's single "Black Cat," his first pop collaboration and a full-length hit.

In 1991, Nuno produced Dweezil Zappa's album Confessions, released on Barking Pumpkin Records, on which he played guitar and provided background vocals on the ballad "The Kiss," his first lead vocal on the album, as well as on other tracks, with contributions from Extreme members Gary Cherone and Pat Badger.

In 1993, Nuno co-wrote and produced the song "Where Are You Going" for the film Super Mario Bros. He also worked in the studio with Robert Palmer, recording Palmer's album Honey. According to former Journey lead singer Steve Perry, Nuno has worked with him on writing and arranging songs. He has also written and recorded with a variety of artists, including Maverick Records' Tantric (Nuno co-wrote Tantric's hit single "Hey Now"), Hollywood recording group BB Mak, and Toni Braxton.

He has also collaborated with Suze Demarque, singer of Baby Animals, working with her and her bandmates. He produced several tracks on Baby Animals' second album, Shaved and Dangerous, and co-wrote the song "Because I Can". He also helped write, record and produce Demarque's solo debut album, Telelove, in 1999. In the same year, he also produced the album Magnolia by Portuguese singer and actress Lucia Moniz, which also features him as singer and guitarist on the song "Try Again".

In 2006, Nuno and his band DramaGods contributed their song "S'OK" to the charity album project Artists for Charity—Guitarists 4 the Kids, produced by Slang Productions, to support World Vision Canada and help children in difficult situations.

In November 2009, Nuno announced that he would be touring with Barbadian singer Rihanna as the lead guitarist on her Last Girl on Earth Tour. Since then, he has performed as her lead guitarist on all of Rihanna's tours, including Loud (11), 2010 (777) and Diamonds World (2012).

In July 2011, Steel Panther reported to Loud magazine that Nuno would be making some appearance on their upcoming album, Balls Out, a collaboration that resulted in the track "It Won't Suck Itself," which also features Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger.

Known for touring with Extreme, Generation Axe and Rihanna, Nuno Bettencourt is a true guitar hero and an inspiration to millions of guitarists around the world. Though known for his electric work with a Washburn N4 Signature guitar, Nuno and Extreme first came to prominence with their hit "More Than Words" featuring an acoustic/electric guitar from the Washburn Festival Series. Nuno continues to feature the Washburn Festival Series guitar on his acoustic compositions to this day.

It was in this spirit, and with a desire to create the perfect stage- and studio-ready instrument, that Washburn and Nuno created the EA20S-Nuno Bettencourt, a low-profile, auditorium-style acoustic/electric with a Florentine cutaway for easy access to the higher frets.

The top is book-matched solid Sitka spruce with quarter-sawn scalloped bracing and book-matched pau ferro back and sides. The smooth satin-finished mahogany neck offers a premium playing feel and features a matching ovangkol fingerboard with an ovangkol bridge. The fingerboard also features Nuno's "mourning widow" inlay at the 12th fret. The Graph Tech Nubon nut and saddle provide the ultimate in tone transfer and sustain.

The chrome die-cast tuners provide ultra-high precision and tuning stability, and the rosette features Nuno's "mourning widow" motif, which matches the fingerboard inlay.

The NB KING 100 is a 100W all-tube amp head, a signature model of Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. With a VU meter reminiscent of a vintage audio amp, and the net and controls arranged on the left and right sides, this model has a distinctive design that makes it easy to tell that it is the "NB KING 100" even from a distance.
