In collaboration with Eddie Van Halen, the powerful full-range hyper drive sound of the EVH5150 has been turned into a pedal!
Multiple MOSFETs are stacked to create a tube-like overdrive sound.
Create anything from the classic Van Halen sound to today's extreme distortion with the BOOST switch!
Any annoying noise that occurs when boosting the signal can be cut using the GATE control, which is equipped with the same gate circuit as the MXR "SMART GATE," a favorite of Eddie himself.
It is equipped with a 3-band EQ that has been carefully set to control the optimal frequency band to reproduce Eddie's sound, allowing for more detailed tone adjustments and making it compatible with any amp!
You can enjoy a high-gain overdrive sound that is both rich and smooth.
- A signature pedal developed under the supervision of Van Halen himself.
- Tube-like, intense distortion sound
- Boost switch for increased drive
- Noise can also be reduced by using the GATE control, which is equipped with a gate circuit similar to the MXR "SMART GATE"

MXR EVH5150 Overdrive | Review and reputation
I've wanted this for a long time, so I'm very happy to get it!
Sound House Than
You can enjoy the VH sound even with a small home amplifier.
The guitar is a Stratocaster, and even the single is muted.
The distortion is not hard, but soft.
It feels good to play. If you're a ham, this is the one for you.
I haven't used it in the studio or live yet.
That evaluation is yet to be done, but I'm sure it will be pleasant.
The EQ isn't very effective, but I think you can tailor the sound by connecting an equalizer effector.
It has a noise gate, but it works in a way that I don't really understand, so I just turn it up a little and use it. If you want to enjoy the VH sound, I think you should enjoy that swell that blows the sound away without worrying about the noise. I'm looking forward to seeing the members in the studio make a displeased face.
I'm not aiming for the EVH sound, but if you play hard rock I think it's worth having this.
My impression is that this pedal is easy to use and the sound doesn't get muted even when distorted!
This pedal will accommodate adjustments to the EQ on your amp without producing any strange sounds.
I was also thinking about it, but instead of buying a few weird pedals, I'd buy this one lol
By the way, I replaced my Marshall governor with this pedal, which has noise reduction and a booster, so it's three in one and has instantly become a regular.
Sound House Than
The middle part feels scooped.
Sound House Than
It feels like the compression is working.
Pleasant bridge mute
It's exactly that sound.
Not suitable for layering distortion pedals.
It's designed primarily for playing at home, but when I play it alone, it feels great and helps relieve stress.
It's not on my board right now because it's not the sound I need in the band, but I don't think I'll ever get rid of it.
