What is the Mesa/Boogie Mark series?

The Mesa/Boogie Mark series was born as an innovative model that combines clean tones and high-gain distortion in the same amplifier. The Simul-Class circuitry ensures that sound pressure and harmonics are not lost even when the output is reduced, and the 5-band EQ allows you to create the famous "V-curve" that produces Metallica's sharp riffs, or Larry Carlton's lustrous crunch with a flat setting.

Furthermore, it can produce a clear clean sound comparable to that of a blackface guitar, so it can cover a wide range of genres from jazz and fusion to metal with just one unit."A versatile platform that can recall the sounds of classic albums regardless of time or place"You can say.

  • 5 band graphic EQ: Instantly create classic tones with the “V-shaped EQ,” which is quicker to find by sight than by ear.
  • Multimode ConfigurationEach channel stores the voicings of previous Mark models, allowing you to move between eras with the flip of a knob.

Mesa/Boogie / Mark VII

Product Features
  • The latest flagship CabClone IR x 8, fully MIDI compatible
  • Newly designed "Mark VII" mode + reissued "Mark IIB" mode
  • Six independent knobs for each channel simplify operation
  • 90/45/25W Simul-Class switchable
  • Recording completed independently

The Mark VII is a "Magnum Opus" that condenses half a century of technology. Ch1 contains blackface clean/Fat/Crunch, Ch2 contains VII-exclusive mode + IIC+Classic, and Ch3 contains IIB revival + Extreme, giving you golden leads. You can assign CabClone IRs to each channel individually, so you can recreate the classic cabinet sounds at home without having to blast the sound.

Channels, EQs, and outputs can be called up all at once via MIDI, allowing you to instantly switch scenes even during live performances. Mark operations, which were previously known as a "knob swamp," have been streamlined to 6 knobs, allowing you to intuitively reach the sound you want.

Although the weight and price are high because it is a top-of-the-line model, it is so complete that it has been described as "all you need for your entire life."

Positive reviews
  • "Easier to set up than the old Mark. Can reproduce the same tone for both large live shows and home IRs."
  • "VII mode is thick and fast, IIB mode is the old-fashioned tenacity -- being able to instantly switch between the two extremes is the best."
  • "Being able to call up the outputs and EQs via MIDI has made touring so much easier."
Negative reviews
  • "The Head weighs 19 kg and costs over 60 yen, so it's out of my reach."
  • "The number of IRs is fixed at 8. It's a shame that you can't load external IRs directly."

Mesa/Boogie / Mark V 90

Product Features
  • Includes all 9 Mark sound modes
  • 90/45/10W variable, 6L6/EL34 switchable
  • Shared 5-band EQ + Solo Boost
  • Independent reverb and FX loop
  • Head: 1x12, 2x12 combo

The Mark V 90 is the "all-in-one Mark." With 1 modes (Ch2 Clean to Crunch, Ch3 IIC+/IV Crunch, Ch9 IIC+ Lead/Extreme), it can handle anything from 70's fusion to modern metal.

Thanks to Simul-Class, even 10 W drives the tubes well, the 45 W setting is perfect for a medium-sized box, and 90 W is plenty even for 4 x 12. Setting the Solo knob to +3 dB brings the solo straight forward.

It may be said to be knob hell, but once you get used to it, it's a classic machine that will impress you with the freedom it gives you in creating sounds.

Positive reviews
  • "A V-shaped EQ makes for Metallica, a flat EQ makes for Carlton...a classic album comes out instantly."
  • "Even at 10 watts, it still has that tube feel. Home metal has become a reality."
  • "The 45W setting with EL34s gives the best bounce for British rock."
Negative reviews
  • "The weight is a pain on your back every time you carry it."
  • "The knob interactions are complicated, making it difficult for beginners to use."

Mesa/Boogie / Mark V 35

Product Features
  • Mark V small version: 35/25/10 W
  • 2Ch6 mode for condensed key points
  • Solo Boost installed, weight 11 kg
  • CabClone with Line-Out
  • Head/1×12 combo

The Mark V 35 is a portable version that solves the "shortcoming problem" of the V90. It has the comfortable compression and clarity that is unique to the EL84, and even at 25W, it has enough sound pressure to compete with drums.

10W + CabClone for late night recording. Channel 1 is Fender-style clean and Fat crunch, Channel 2 is IIC+/IV/Extreme. The Solo knob allows for instant lead boost at your feet, making it simple to operate for small live shows.

The low-end output is inferior to the V90, but it is the best option if you prioritize maneuverability.

Positive reviews
  • "You can carry this Mark with one hand. The clean is thicker than you'd think."
  • "The 25 watt setting is perfect for club gigs. Convenient direct EQ to PA."
  • "It's quicker to set up than the V90. It cuts down on live changeover time."
Negative reviews
  • "The EL84 lacks low end and the 7-string isn't enough"
  • "It's a shame that CabClone doesn't support IR."

Mesa/Boogie / Mark V 25

Product Features
  • The main features of the Mark V's 9 modes have been condensed into a 2-channel, 6-mode configuration.
  • Compact lunchbox head with 10/25 W variable, 84 x EL2
  • CabClone Line-Out & Headphone Jack Built-in, Ideal for Home Recording
  • Weighing just 7.5 kg, it is the lightest in the series and is easy to carry.
  • Available in two formats: head and 1x10 combo (currently available while supplies last)

The Mark V 25 is a mini head that embodies the Mark sound in a home size. Ch 1 has clean, fat, and crunch, and Ch 2 has IIC+, Mk IV, and Extreme, extracting the best parts of larger machines. The power tubes are EL84 x 2, and even at 25 W, the sound pressure is richer than you'd imagine.

CabClone allows you to record through a line or practice with headphones late at night without turning on the speakers, and the 10W setting allows you to drive the vacuum tubes firmly while keeping the volume low. The EQ and Solo Boost are the same as the higher-end models, so you can take it to a live performance right away. Although the output and low end are inferior to the higher-end models, it still remains popular due to its portability and home recording capabilities.

Positive reviews
  • "It's small enough to hold in one handAuthentic Mark lead toneIt gave me goosebumps."
  • "10W + CabClone for recording at night, then 25W with the cab on the weekends. Really useful."
  • "The distortion quality is comparable to the Mark V 90. This unit alone is enough to win in a small venue."
Negative reviews
  • "The amount of low frequencies is limited by the EL84 x 2. It's not enough for 7-string metal."
  • "CabClone doesn't have IR functionality, so I purchased an external IR loader."

Home recording & IR usage tips | CabClone IR / Two Notes

VII Built-in CabClone IR: 8 types of cabs can be assigned to each channel, and directly connected to DAW via XLR. No IR loader required.

V35 / V90: The line out is the basic CabClone EQ, then an external IR loader (Two Notes, UA OX) is added for full-scale recording.

Recommended chain: Amp Send → IR Loader → IF → DAW. Load is Simul-Class/10W, allowing you to record late at night while playing tubes.
