Despite its compact size, this unit is equipped with four vacuum tubes and offers ample performance for a home 4W amplifier. It offers three modes (Clean/Deliverance/Pitbull), two gain knobs, and various switches for a wide range of sound shaping, and is packed with modern features such as a headphone jack, DI out, and IR import via USB.
FRYETTE Valvulator GPDI/IR | Features and Functions
Equipped with an all-tube 1W amplifier

It delivers authentic tube sound and feel, hard to believe it's only 1W. It has enough output to drive a home speaker cabinet, and can also be used with a headphone amplifier or external power amplifier. It's a "tube head + preamp + DI" all in one, and can be used individually or simultaneously as needed.
Switch between 3 types of amplifier sounds
The front panel lets you select from three of FRYETTE's signature tones: Clean, Deliverance, and Pitbull. Additionally, two GAIN knobs and a MORE/LESS switch allow you to select three or four gain stages, allowing you to adjust a wide range of distortion nuances. A wide range of tones can be produced, from gentle, transparent clean tones to aggressive, drive-like high gain. The power amp section also features a DYNAMICS knob (sag adjustment) and a DEEP/TIGHT switch (low-frequency response adjustment), allowing you to precisely control the dynamics unique to tube amps.
Built-in analog cab and mic simulator

The analog cabinet and microphone simulator, which was also highly praised in the previous model, the GP/DI, has been improved. The microphone characteristics can be adjusted in three bands (Low-Mid, Hi-Mid, High (Emphasis)), and the AIR/BITE switch simulates the placement of the microphone relative to the speaker, allowing you to change the ambience. This analog cab sim operates with ultra-low latency, preserving the nuances and dynamics of your playing.
Equipped with digital IR loader

The unit also features an IR (impulse response) cabinet simulation, allowing you to incorporate the reverberation of real-world spaces that analog circuits cannot fully reproduce. Up to 16 IR data sets can be stored on the unit, and the unit ships preloaded with in-house cabinet IRs personally selected by Steven Fryette. You can upload your favorite commercially available or custom IRs via the front USB port and instantly recall them by switching between four banks of four presets per band. You can output both analog and IR simultaneously, or use just one of them.
Tube buffer DI + reamp function

The guitar signal input to the front INPUT is routed through the internal vacuum tube and output directly to the DIRECT OUT terminal, functioning as a high-quality vacuum tube DI box. By returning the clean track recorded from this Direct Out to the REAMP IN terminal on the rear of the unit, you can recreate your guitar performance through this unit, i.e., re-amping. A major advantage is that it allows you to practice professional recording techniques (re-amping) without the need for dedicated equipment. You can also output both clean and post-effect signals simultaneously during recording, allowing you to re-create the sound later.
Versatile input/output and expandability
A headphone output allows for quiet practice at home. An FX loop is also provided, allowing you to add your favorite effects before or after the GPDI/IR tube power stage. In EXT AMP mode, you can also connect this unit to the effect return of an external amplifier to use it as an additional channel. A footswitch jack is also provided, allowing for remote switching between MORE/LESS and EXT AMP modes. This allows for flexible use, whether standalone or in combination with your existing amplifiers and equipment.

Summary | The “infinite possibilities” of changing home recording
- Those who want the sound of a tube amp when recording at home
It's ideal for recording the full-throttle sound of a live tube amp, even in an apartment or at night. Because it can reproduce the "sound picked up by a microphone from a cabinet" without microphone pickup, you can achieve uncompromising tone even in a soundproof environment. It's a tool that instantly solves the noise and space issues that are common in home recording environments. - People who want professional sound even when practicing with headphones
For those who find the headphone output of a simple multi-effects unit insufficient, this unit delivers the rich sound that only vacuum tubes can provide. The built-in headphone jack lets you hear the sound of the amp, cab, and microphone as it is, allowing you to enjoy stage-quality sound even during late-night practice sessions. - People who don't want to carry an amp around at live shows or in the studio
This unit features a DI output, so you can connect it directly to a PA or audio interface. It's lightweight and compact, weighing just 2kg, making it easy to carry. You can recreate your own tone without relying on the amps in your rehearsal studio, and during live performances, you can create a stable sound by connecting it directly to a line instead of an amp. It's also a reliable backup amplifier. - Guitarists seeking freedom in sound creation
With three amp character settings, from clean to extreme distortion, and the ability to switch between analog and IR cabinet tones, it's versatile enough to handle any genre. For blues or crunch, try the clean to mid-gain setting with an analog cab sim for warmth, while for high-gain metal, use Pitbull mode with your favorite IR for a crisp, modern sound. This single unit offers endless tonal variations. The effects loop also allows for flexible integration with external pedals. - Tone-chasers who are tired of digital equipment
While recent plug-ins and profilers are also of high quality, GPDI/IR still satisfies those who insist on the response of a genuine vacuum tube amp. By actually driving the tubes internally and driving the speakers, you can get the feel you expect from analog, such as distortion and sag depending on the strength of your picking. The ability to use IRs to complement the "air" that digital cannot provide makes GPDI/IR the ideal recording tool for analog guitarists.
The FRYETTE Valvulator GPDI/IR is a revolutionary device for home recording and quiet guitar playing. It delivers the rich sound and feel of a tube amp, while offering unparalleled all-in-one versatility for everything from headphone practice to professional-level direct line recording.
The unique strengths of this unit, which combines a balanced combination of tube, analog, and digital technology, shine through.
The price is by no means cheap, but users say it's well worth it. If you want to easily enjoy the "authentic sound of a tube amp" anywhere, the Valvulator GPDI/IR is the perfect solution. Experience its infinite possibilities for yourself.
