Bogner Ecstasy 3534

This 35W head amplifier perfectly reproduces the sound and operability of the Bogner Ecstasy series, which was once the ``high-gain machine of choice,'' in a home-sized unit.

Clear clean, dense crunch, and lustrous lead that rival Fender models. With 3 channels + boost, you can do it all with just one unit. And it weighs just 1kg - the most portable and authentic for both live performances and home recording.

In this article, we will thoroughly explain the capabilities, features, sound creation keys, and customer reviews of the Ecstasy 3534. We will also introduce the combination of a Bogner 1x12 cabinet that will bring out its true value.

As per the above specs, the Bogner Ecstasy 3534 is a 35W output, 3-channel all-tube guitar amp head. The sound produced by four 4AX12 (ECC7) preamp tubes and two EL83 power tubes is extremely rich, delivering the dynamics and punch you expect from a full tube amplifier.

Each channel has its own gain and volume (CH2/CH3 share EQ), a global Presence knob, and a variety of mini switches, making this a compact unit packed with the full functionality of a flagship model. In particular, the three footswitchable channels + Boost allow you to cover a wide range of sounds, from crystal clear clean to bluesy crunch and intense high-gain distortion.

Although it is small, it is extremely lightweight at 13.6 kg, making it easy to carry (the average for its class is 18 to 20 kg). Another great attraction is that it is a size and weight that can be easily handled from home to the studio or live venue.

Bogner Ecstasy 3534 | Features and Functions

3-channel configuration supports a wide range of sounds from clean to high gain

The Ecstasy 3534 has three channels (CH3: Green, CH1: Blue, CH2: Red), each of which provides a crystal clean, a thick crunch/overdrive, and a powerful lead distortion.

CH1 has a beautiful, clear clean tone that rivals a Fender-style clean, and also serves as an excellent pedal platform (in fact, some say the clean channel rivals a Fender clean).

The Blue channel (CH2) is an overdrive that has been acclaimed since the original Ecstasy, and depending on the guitar's volume control and gain settings, it can produce a wide range of sounds from crunch to high gain.

The Red channel of CH3 is specialized for solo lead sounds, providing a high-gain lead tone with a dense and sustained sound. CH2 and CH3 each have their own dedicated boost circuit built in, which can be turned on/off via the front panel or foot switch.

Using the boost, you can create a gain difference between rhythm and lead, and during solos you can ensure even more distortion and volume to bring out your presence. These four sounds (4CH + Boost) can be instantly switched with the included foot switch, so you can not only quickly switch between clean and distortion, but also control the boost from crunch to lead with just one foot. This is truly a versatile amp that can cover any genre with just one unit.

Powerful and practical with 35W EL34 power

Although the output is 35W, which is lower than 100W class amplifiers, the 34W power amplifier with dual EL35 tubes delivers enough punch and stage volume that you would expect from Bogner. In fact, the manufacturer also says,Even at 35 watts it still delivers the punch and stage volume you expect from Bogner."The company advertises this as being more than enough output for a live music venue.

By turning up the volume and driving the power tubes, you can get a thick sound and rich harmonic content that stands out on stage. On the other hand, the low wattage makes it easy to bring out the saturation of the output tubes, so you can enjoy the thick drive feeling unique to vacuum tubes while keeping the volume low even at home or in a small environment.

The master volume function is installed as an effect loop return level, and is effective even at low volumes. Users have praised the unit for its excellent master volume, saying, "Best Master Volume I have seen; great at TV volumes or Saturday nobody-is-home thrills." The high practicality of the unit's ability to produce the best sound in any situation is highly praised.

Another major feature of the 3534 is its compact and lightweight design. Its width is about 101% (70cm) of the flagship 49B, and it weighs about 13.6kg, which is surprisingly light for a vacuum tube head. It is clearly easier to handle than a typical 40–50W class head (around 18–20kg), and it will be easy to transport in a car or take to a rehearsal studio. This combination of ease of use and sound quality is the greatest appeal of the Ecstasy 3534, which meets the needs of modern players.

PRE-EQ switch and Excursion control for sound creation

The front panel has a three-position Pre-EQ switch for each channel. This is a bright switch that finely adjusts the high-frequency output and presence, and the amount of high-frequency harmonics can be controlled in three positions: B3 (slightly bright), B1 (even brighter), and N (normal/off). You can finely adjust the character of the high-frequency range to suit your pickup and preferences, adding a sparkling clean sound or suppressing harsh high frequencies in a distortion channel, contributing flexibly to sound creation (※The effect is reduced when the gain is fully increased).

The power amp section also features a three-stage switch called Excursion. By switching between Loose, Deep and Tight, you can adjust the damping of the speaker, i.e. the tightness of the bass. Generally, the stronger the damping (=Tight), the sharper the bridge mute will be when the sound is turned off, and the weaker the damping (=Loose), the longer the reverberation and the more relaxed the bass will sound. With the Ecstasy 3, you can freely switch the hardness/softness of this low-frequency response on the amp, allowing you to fine-tune it to suit your playing style and cabinet. For example, you can change the low-frequency character of the amp itself by setting it to Tight for a sharp sound for fast metal riffs, or Loose for a relaxed and thick sound for blues and old rock. This is a professional feature unique to Bogner. In addition to these switches, there is also a global Presence knob, which allows you to adjust the overall brightness of the ultra-high frequencies. These controls allow you to create the perfect tone for your situation and preferences.

Flexible boost and effects loop

As mentioned above, CH2 and CH3 each have a switchable boost. With Boost off, you can get a slightly more subdued distortion setting for rhythm, and with Boost on, you can increase the gain for solos, all with a single touch. The boost can also be turned on/off with the included foot switch, so you can instantly increase the sound pressure with your foot even while playing to create a tone that will take center stage.

For effect processing, the rear panel is equipped with a high-quality effects loop using a vacuum tube buffer. An internal jumper allows you to switch between series and parallel, so you can add your favorite spatial pedals to the back of the amp and apply them with a clear sound image. In addition, an "Assign FX" switch has been added to the rear panel as a new feature unique to the Ecstasy 3534. When Assign FX is turned on, the loop is automatically turned on only when CH2/CH3 are used, and the loop signal can be bypassed on the clean CH1.

For example, you can loop delay or reverb on the distortion channel, while turning off the loop on the clean channel to get a pure clean effect directly from the guitar + spatial pedal (directly from the amp). It's a highly advanced way of using it. The convenient loop operation that takes into account the modern guitar sound situation is truly Bogner.

If you turn off the Assign switch, the loop will be enabled as normal for all channels. In addition, the rear panel is also equipped with a line out terminal, which can be used to send signals to a sub power amp/cabinet or for recording. As mentioned above, the included 4-button foot switch supports channel switching, boost, and loop on/off, and can also be controlled by MIDI program change by connecting an external MIDI switcher (such as RJM's Amp Gizmo) to the foot switch terminal. In this way, the Bogner Ecstasy 3534 is an amp head with professional-oriented expandability and flexibility that you would not expect from its small appearance.

The Vintage 30 installed is compatible with the rich low mids and harmonic components unique to the Ecstasy series, maintaining a clear sound image in all channels, including lead, crunch, and clean. Bogner Ecstasy 3534 | Who is it recommended for?

Do you need forest bathing?
  • People who are looking for high gain but feel that a 100W full stack is too much
With an easy-to-handle output of 3534W, the Ecstasy 35 delivers Bogner's flagship-class high-gain tone from home to live performances. The lightweight and compact body saves space and allows for proper volume control.
  • People looking for a "main amplifier" that covers everything from clean to distortion in one unit
With 3 channels + Boost, it can flexibly handle any musical genre. In fact, users have commented that "from crystal clean to blazing leads... this amp will work for any style," making it ideal for cover bands and genre-crossing players.
  • Those considering stepping up from digital or returning to tube amps
Convenient modeling amps and profilers are great, but the Bogner 3534 reminds us of the "touch and resonate" excitement of real tube sound. Young guitarists who have only used simulators are shocked when they touch a vacuum tube amp, and veterans who have been using software for many years are increasingly returning to tubes. The 3534 will be the perfect gateway to such a "real amp experience."
  • People who are particular about equipment and are quality-oriented
Bogner amps are used by many top rock/metal pros, and their high-quality sound is suitable for recording and large-scale live performances. The 3534 inherits that DNA while being housed in a modern size, making it a worthy addition to your main equipment. Some people say it's expensive, but well worth it. Once you play it, you'll be hooked in 15 minutes and the superb tone will give you more satisfaction than the price would suggest.

The Bogner Ecstasy 3534 head amplifier is a groundbreaking model that condenses the sound and soul of the Ecstasy series, which is synonymous with high-end amplifiers, into a small housing. Its powerful all-tube sound at 35W, versatility with 3 channels + abundant controls, and ease of handling due to its small size and light weight all meet the requirements of modern guitarists at a high level. The sound quality is excellent without compromise from clean to drive, and it is no wonder that many users praise it as "the best amplifier that you can't let go of." There are some issues, such as the noise problem of the effects loop that has been pointed out by some, but even if you take that into account, the 3534 has more than enough charm.

In order to fully utilize the performance of this unit, it is ideal to combine it with Bogner's genuine 1 x 12" Cube cabinet. With a compact footprint and easy portability, this cabinet delivers a rich tone comparable to a 4 x 12, and it is no exaggeration to say that it was made for the Ecstasy 3534. When you actually use it, you will be amazed at how well it matches.

Overall, the Bogner Ecstasy 3534 is a unit that we can confidently recommend to all guitarists looking for a professional-oriented high-gain amp head. The price is by no means cheap, but it will definitely deliver value and satisfaction that is worth it. Please experience the sound for yourself and experience the true essence of tube amps and the Bogner sound.
